Lily's Rabbit Hole

Quality Mini Rex, Netherland Dwarf and Lionheads... also the more uncommon Astrex, Micro Rex and Velvet Lion

NETHERLAND DWARF DOES

Kissime M67 (aka: April)
Smoke Pearl

One of my all time favorite colors!  Even with cage space an issue, I couldn't resist this beautiful little Doe!

Lily's Achoo
Seal

Little Achoo is the first Doe kit from April so, since she carries the dilute gene, we decided to keep her in our hope to get more Smoke Pearls in our litters.

Lily's Cirrus
BEW

Silly's last Doe kit.  Nice tiny, typy girl.  One very prolific little Doe and a great foster mom!

Tranquility's Lady Godiva
Chocolate

Thanks to Sandra, Peter, Alexis and Ryan for parting with this beautiful little doe.  She is such a wonderful girl... very friendly and sweet.  We have high hopes that her sire, a Harlequin, passed his 'ej' genetics down to her and we hope to find out with selective pairing. Recently had her first litter... great apple heads and tiny ears just like dad 'Andy'.  Update: Sept. 19, 2008  A month ago we paired Godiva with Marlin, a Sable Point Mini Rex, to test for the Harlequin genetics... well... our results were a little different than expected... she has a rex furred kit in the litter!  Not only does she carry the recessive rex gene, it also appears that Godiva may carry 'ej' as we had hoped, but, it's hard to be 100% sure... it first appeared that we had a Tort and a Sable Point in the litter (as well as other solid colors)... now, two days later, they appear to be a Harli Tort and a Magpie Sable Point... dam those genes that show incomplete dominance!  We should know better in a few more days as the color comes in stronger and richer.  The bonus in all of this is that we can now plan on using Godiva in our colored Micro Rex program!  Woo hoo!

Lucy
Orange VM

I picked up this little doe for a woman who insisted as to just how much she wanted a ND doe... well, she never did show up to get her.  One morning I found her laying on her side on the floor of her cage, her pupils were fixed and dilated, and she was just a limp, nearly lifeless form.  I remembered what I had learned those near fifteen years at a local Veterinary Hospital and I got to work with my syringe full of fresh pineapple juice and B vitamins.  Along with a heating pad and continued nursing care, she pulled through and passed the life threatening blockage... she had chewed on my new cotton curtains and had obviously swallowed the threads.  During her three day ordeal, I made the mistake of giving her a name... well, once you name them, it is hard to let them go.  Lucy is an awesome mom and she has gone on to produce some wonderful kits of many different colors.

Lily's Raven
Black

We are keeping our fingers crossed that Raven may carry the rex fur gene (her mom recently proved to do so) as she is a nice tiny sized Dwarf and would be a great asset to our Micro Rex program.  Recently paired with Punxsutawney Phil (F-1 MR/ND Hybrid), we really look forward to seeing what their offspring will be like.

StoneyBrook's S3  Sally
BEW

Sally has shared the space, in a large hutch, with her sister Silly since coming to live with us.  The two girls are great company for each other and play together well... *laugh*...except during a warm spell this spring, when they constantly took turns mounting one another... that was my cue that it was time for their first breedings.   Well, one month later Sally kindled 5 gorgeous BEW kits... what a great mom!   Sadly, her sister Silly passed away on June 30th due to Gastroenteritis (via autopsy evaluation by my wonderful mobile Veterinarian) and Sally seems quite lonely.... I guess that I shall have to keep one of her Doe kits from her newest expected litter to keep her company.
